At SFSU there's this big board from this economics professor
who traced the history of Monopoly. Originally it was an
ANTI-Monopoly game pushed forward by trustbusting leftist groups, and
Milton Bradley managed to avoid various patent issues by making it
PRO-monopoly. Like, instead of "chance" and "community chest" it was
"monopoly" and "anti-monopoly" cards originally.
And the best part is that the anti-monopoly game was
originally a QUAKER game, designed by the Friends to be this simple
crafts project -- MAKE YOUR OWN and PEACEABLY TOPPLE THE SIN OF
AUTHORITY!
That guy oughta write a book someone other than an economist
could read. He's got a great window display, though.
