Subject: [NV Greens] update on rooms search for state meeting
So far, I've called the Frontier ... no response yet. I've called the
School Board to see if their board room is available, it's not open on
weekends. They recommended using High Schools, but if we're going to
use High Schools, we might as well use UNLV. I've called The Westin
... no response yet either.
I'm thinking that if each of us make calls to various small hotels, we
might find an affordable meeting room that meets our specifications:
1) available on Sunday, Oct. 15 or Oct. 22
2) holds at least 50 people
3) have access to the room for at least 4 hours
4) has access to a landline with speakerphone and long distance and/or
calling card access
I'm going to call the county buildings on Monday because I know they let
folks use those rooms from time to time. I'm also going to try my
connections at UNLV to see if there's anything they can do for us there
that's relatively inexpensive (it can be expensive at times when dealing
with UNLV).
We also need a room in Reno or somewhere else in Washoe County for those
folks in the North. Can someone in Washoe County help with this? How
about UNR, are there rooms there with landlines and speakerphones?
What about nonprofit orgs? Are there any that have this capability
that would like to rent out their rooms for four to five hours?
The sooner we can get these rooms, the better we'll be able to advertise
for the meeting and start working on the agenda, process, and other
issues that we'll need to discuss at the meeting.
Anyone else have an update? All help is greatly appreciated, thanks,
Jason Halprin
