Black Rock NCA Volunteer/LNT Dates 05

 

April 9- 10

Leave No Trace Trainer Course in the Calico Mountains Wilderness in the Black Rock High Rock NCA. Course will entail a two day backpack course and instruction on the LNT principles and outdoor ethics. Call Brian Murdock, BLM Wilderness Coordinator for details. April 30-May 1 

Black Rock Rendezvous Volunteer Orientation/Campout 

The orientation will include workshops on visitor contact, the Wilderness Stewardship program, route restoration, Leave No Trace principles, map reading/GPS use, etc.

May 14-15

Soldier Meadows/Wilderness Restoration Volunteer Project

Projects will focus on site restoration at the Soldier Meadow Hot Springs and adjacent Wilderness Areas. Project will include car camping at the Hot Springs. Contact Dave Lefevre, BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner for details. (Phone Number 775-623-1770)

 

June 25-26

Wilderness Restoration Volunteer Project

Project will involve removing invasive tamarisk from the South Jackson Mountain Wilderness on Saturday and a hike into the wilderness on Sunday. Call Brian Murdock, BLM Wilderness Coordinator for details. (Phone Number 775-623-1761)

 

August 13-14

Wilderness Restoration Volunteer Project

Project will involve reclaiming closed routes and construction barriers in the Pahute Peak Wilderness on Saturday and a possible hike to the top of Pahute Peak on Sunday. Call Brian Murdock, BLM Wilderness Coordinator for details. (Phone Number 775-623-1761)

 

September 24-25

National Public Lands Day Event at Soldier Meadows.

Project will involve reclamation work in the Soldier Meadows area on Saturday and a optional hike into Fly Canyon on Sunday. We will be camping at the Soldier Meadows Ranch or the hot springs. Lodging and meals will also be available at the Soldier Meadows Guest Ranch, call ahead for reservations. Contact Dave Lefevre, BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner for details.
