This is my brief personal statement regarding my candidacy for the
Executive Council for inclusion in the General Meeting coming up on
July 17, 2005 (per Green Party of Nevada bylaws, Article III, Section
2(B)1.f.).

I moved to Las Vegas, NV in August 2000 and attended graduate school for
Sociology at UNLV. I've been involved with Las Vegas peace and justice
activism since the summer of 2001 when I helped to start the UNLV
Campus Greens. At about the same time, I got involved with the Clark
County Green Party. I served as the Secretary of the Clark County
Green Party in 2003. I've since spent much of my time mobilizing for
and organizing demonstrations against the U.S. occupation of Iraq and
Afghanistan and U.S. imperialism in general. In my time organizing and
mobilizing in Las Vegas, I've met people from most of the progressive
and people-based organizations in town. I've also had the chance to
interact with the local news media. I helped organize the Las Vegas
Independent Media Center and am a member of the Las Vegas chapter of
Solidarity. I worked as a paid organizer for the Shundahai Network
where I learned a great deal about nuclear waste and weapons issues
affecting people in Nevada as well as how to better deal with
government officials.

I feel I would fit well in either the Secretary or Co-chair positions
for the Green Party of Nevada Executive Council.

The Green Party of Nevada must be a strong base for county locals to
grow from. The current image of the Green Party of Nevada is
ineffective and idealistically naive. If elected to serve on the Green
Party of Nevada Executive Council, I will work to make the Green Party
of Nevada more effective as a political party. That means winning
campaigns and electing Greens. The future of the Green Party of Nevada
is uncertain. If we do our homework and put in whatever energy we have,
the uncertainty will fade and the Green Party of Nevada will continue to
grow.
