I will volunteer to be the facilitator for the Clark County meeting on
June 25, 2005 as well as for the Green Party of Nevada state meeting on
July 17, 2005. I will also help to put together agendas for both
meetings ahead of time, help to find a location for folks in Reno, and
help spread the word regarding both meetings to as many registered
greens as possible. All of us need to help spread the word, though, so
get a hold of the registered voters list and start calling Greens today!

OPEN POSITIONS OF THE GREEN PARTY OF NEVADA EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
------------------------------------------------------
Tracy asks, "...which positions are open for election?" My suggestion
was for all of the positions to be open, two co-chairs, secretary,
treasurer, and four (4) at-large members. Keep in mind, this is for
the Green Party of Nevada meeting on July 17, 2005. Technically,
according to the bylaws, the co-chairs and the at-large members need to
be staggered so they overlap. We'll have to come up with some way
around this at the state meeting, any ideas on this before the meeting
will be helpful.
As for the Clark County Greens meeting on June 25, 2005, again, all of
the positions are open as well, as Barb pointed out in her most recent
e-mail.
-------------------------------------------------------
NOMINATIONS FOR GREEN PARTY OF NEVADA EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
-------------------------------------------------------
Tracy asks, "And if one is interested in one of the open seats [in the
Green Party of Nevada], what do we do to get on the ballot?" This is a
good question. According to the Green Party of Nevada bylaws in Article
III, Section 2(B)1.f. "Any Party member who is in attendance at the
General Meeting or has declared her/his candidacy in writing may be
nominated to serve on the Council. All candidates are encouraged to
submit brief personal statements for inclusion in the General Meeting."
I think folks (including current officers) should start submitting
these personal statements and declarations of candidacy to the Nevada
Greens e-mail list (nvgreen at dasbistro.com) as soon as possible so we
can get a sense of who wants to run for what office and why. And then
at the meeting, we can nominate people based on these statements.
As for being nominated for an office on the board of the Clark County
Greens, we can nominate people at the county meeting on June 25.
------------------------------------------------------
MAIN PRIORITIES OF GREEN PARTY OF NEVADA - STATE MEETING
------------------------------------------------------
(1) I think our first priority at the state-wide meeting must be to
elect officers to the Executive Council.
(2) The second priority is to make amendments to the bylaws as needed.
(3) The third priority would be to put together our slate of candidates,
but because this isn't an election year, we will not have candidates
running in 2005. However, we may want to discuss some strategy
concerning 2006 and 2008.
