Charles, thanks for the detailed explanation of the work required of a
member of the platform committee. I volunteered contingent on a
complete understanding of what would be involved, and now that I have
your explanation, I would like to volunteer to be an observer. I'm
confused about Barb's account of what happened at the meeting, but
either way, I think that given my complete non-involvement in the party
over the past few years, I couldn't represent the group with enough
knowledge or recent background to be a member at this point, but I think
I could offer some worthwhile help as an observer.
So thanks again- and when/if this is voted in, just let me know what I
need to do. (I'm reading the platform now......)

"The committee, GPUS "PlatCom", can have up to three members from each
state, and alternates and observers who read what's on-line and
presumably can communicate through the designated members.
I suggest that everyone willing should take a look, participate as
motivated, and see if the functions fit the interests.. it would be
very supportive of whoever does it to have a "discussion group" to share
thoughts with/among.
I would like to have you get signed on as a member, and the others as
observers, -at least-.
I can continue for a while and it would be fun to have company to gripe
with. The PlatCom does have face to face meetings at the annual GPUS
meetings and conventions.. Few members choose to take part in those
meetings, as those who might be attending are usually involved with
whatever else is going on. I doubt my trips to the States will coincide
with the GPUS meetings.. who knows.. but I plan to resign as soon as
there's someone from NV to enjoy this stuff, or push it on.
The PlatCom members are either the GPUS delegates or members appointed
by the state party. "Permitted" was one term applied to those not
delegates. A letter from the state party to the PlatCom is all that's
necessary."
