You can print out business cards on your home computers. I get light weight card stock at the store and mostly list my name and email and websites. Very cheap.
I think the $150 left over should go to buy bumper stickers. I have such a hard time here finding good bumper stickers! Just have them say Green Party and a web site.
Give them out free at the meetings and maybe more people will come.
It is a 120 mile round trip for me to go to Reno. I really need a closer group.
Have you heard the news that a SLAUGHTERHOUSE is being planned for my town, Silver Springs? If anything should be against the Green philosophy-this should be!
So I have another fight on my hands,.

To answer Craig's first and second question, "How are things in Clark?"
and "Are you all meeting?", I would say that things are as they
normally are ... and that's not necessarily good. In 2005, many people
in Clark County came together to volunteer to help the Green Party of
Nevada at the state level. Since that time, most of those people have
left leaving a small state party infrastructure and an even smaller
Clark County chapter. This is definitely repairable, but people will
need to attend the upcoming meeting on December 17, 2006 in order to
continue Clark County meetings as this is looking to be the last Clark
County chapter meeting. The Clark County bank account has been closed
(we were unable to access it) and the funds have been transferred to
the Green Party of Nevada bank account.
Craig asks, "What is the status of our state website?"
The website has been updated. Please see the following links in order
to determine if the updates are accurate and/or any other information
needs to be updated:
http://www.nevadagreenparty.org/
http://www.nevadagreenparty.org/contact.html
http://www.nevadagreenparty.org/chapters.html
I do not mind maintaining the website as it takes about 3 hours each
month or less. However, I am willing to share what I know with anyone
who is interested in helping to maintain the Green Party of Nevada
website. Send me an e-mail and we can go from there.
Craig asks, "What mechanism should we use for posting to all Nevada
Greens?"
This is a good question to which there is no definite answer. I would
recommend sending e-mails to the three e-mail lists above. One may
have to first sign up to each of the e-mail lists in order to be able
to send e-mail to them. Again, contact me and I can help sign people
up to these lists.
Craig asks, "If we post onto DasBistro, will it get out to all?"
If you post to the three e-mail lists I have listed above, then, your
e-mail will automatically be sent out to everyone who has signed up to
be on those e-mail lists. This is NOT every Green in Nevada, it's not
even close. But, theoretically, it's supposed to be every Green in
Nevada who has access to a computer with Internet and who is interested
in communicating with other Greens via e-mail. So, as far as sending
out an e-mail and getting it into the hands of those people who would
be most likely to want it, these three e-mail lists would be your best
bet. Obviously, if you have other people that are not Greens or who
have not signed onto these lists, you can always send it to them as
well.
Washoe Meeting asks, "Currently it [Green Party of Nevada] is not on
there [voter registration form] , so Green Party is not a choice, it is
a write in."
This is true and unfortunate. According to the Nevada Secretary of
State Elections department, this was an administrative decision. They
printed the new registration forms and only included the parties that
had ballot access at the time of the printing. I don't know how this
is legal or if this is even appropriate, but nobody complained very
much at the time so they got away with it. Supposedly, all we had to
do was get ballot access again and then we can be listed back on the
voter registration form. We'll see if they do another printing in
order to make this happen. If someone wants to be in constant contact
with the Secretary of State about this, that'll probably light the fire
so that it actually happens.
Washoe Meeting asks, "Do they have a mailing box, phone, and are they
currently meeting regularly? Are they willing to maintain a PO Box?"
Currently, the Clark County Greens do not have a P.O. Box, a phone
number, and are meeting but the future of the meetings is still not
known. I do not think a P.O. Box in Clark County is appropriate at
this time as there are no volunteers to maintain it. However, we are
using Paul E.'s P.O. Box as the Green Party of Nevada mailing address.
So, Paul E., if you get mail for us please contact me or Charles if
necessary.
Washoe Meeting asks, "Who is maintaining the website, and how do we get
traffic going on it? None of us are good at keeping websites going, and
thus need to either learn this quickly, or find someone with the
expertise to do that."
Currently, I am maintaining the website with Charles I. helping out when
he can. We are maintaining both the nevadagreenparty.org and the
clarkcountygreens.org websites. A Washoe County (or even Lyon County
as we have some new volunteers in Lyon County) website would be great
and I could help maintain that as well. Like I said above, it takes
about three hours a month to maintain the website, so it's really not a
big deal for me to do. Anda again, contact me if you'd like to help.
Washoe Meeting asks, "Paul E. mentioned an 800 number that had been used
at one time. Does anyone know anything about this?
At some time in 2005, the Green Party of Nevada was organized enough to
be able to maintain an 800 number. However, once that number was
cancelled, we no longer had the organization to pick up a new one.
It's definitely essential to have, but the decision-making at the state
level is non-existant at this time.
Those are all of the questions I noticed in the Washoe meeting minutes
e-mail. If I missed one or two, please ask again and I'll do my best
to share the information that I have.
My suggestion:
Use the December 17, 2006 meetings as meetings to fill the ranks of the
Green Party of Nevada at the state level, i.e. get volunteers to serve
on the Executive Council. Plan a state meeting where everyone agrees
to meet in person in order to meet each other and to discuss many of
the issues that are difficult to discuss via e-mail. I will soon be
moving out of Nevada and will be able to continue maintaining the
website but I will not be able to do much more.
I would also suggest sending your thoughts, whoever you are out there
reading this message, to these e-mail lists. Your thoughts will only
serve to help the party. It's important to share your views and to get
involved at least on the e-mail lists and then if you'd like, in person
at one of the meetings. Vibrant discussion on these e-mail lists is
essential to the growth of the state party.

And it is probably overdue that they be given a break from this duty. They have kept the state party going for a long time. Perhaps they can be persuaded to help update the state site with current contact information and etc.

> Craig mentioned that he has about $150 left from his campaign funds, and has to disburse these funds before his filing with the state in January. These funds can be given to local charities or other organizations, as we understand, and it was suggested that several groups here could use this money. Great Basin Mine Watch, PLAN, and others are certainly deserving of help. Also, Paul mentioned seeing a Green Party bumper sticker on a car, and it was noted that if we used some of this funding to print business cards, then we could all carry a few and put these on windshield wipers as we run across Green cars.

Either collectively or individually it may benefit us all to continue to try to effect the political process here, and contacting our representatives is one more way we can do that.
