Since I am already acting as a volunteer, It would be good to formally recognize that.
Please consider the following as "neutral" statements that merely try to show where my particular view is at this particular moment.
I support MOST of the party platform (who wouldn't). 8-1/2 of the 10 key points.
Watching Democratic & Republican (presidential) candidates on C-Span last night reinforces our need for other options, be they party recognized or others.
I look forward to viable candidates who are brave enough to abandon political habit(s).
Some of these unfortunate habits may include: pandering, favor trading, old-time religion quoting, old-time political stumping, tailored content (pandering).
I understand the use of consensus. However, the consensus I have witnessed to date consists of a few people dominating (sometimes passively) speech and then time elapsing (due to external control of agenda) resulting in a "vote" where every one is mostly silent.
This to me is no different from systems of domination.
I truly regret that I could not attend more of the State meetings. I was sick for three weeks with the flu, and had to teach anyway that Saturday.
Perhaps a more fluid consensus process existed later Saturday or Sunday?
Brainstorming requires a documentor person or device be designated.
When I conduct brainstorming in academic/business settings, we use a large white board and a digital camera.
The brainstorms alternate with reflect and organize sessions. The content of the board is shifted & grouped if applicable.
THEN agendas are defined from that content.
THATS a GROUP process.
I look forward to helping the Greens in anyway that works.
With much respect,
David Curtis
