Subject: Status of campaign

Dear friends,

As of today, 05/26/2006 here is the status of our Nevada Green Party Governor's Campaign.
Financial- 3 donations to date. 2 of $200 each, plus one of $5. (Thank you David and Paul X)
This $405 has gone towards:
$300 filing fee with Secretary of State.
$97 for 1,000 business cards -- I will soon run out of them.

We have left in the bank, about $8.

Yes, I know this is a true grit grass roots campaign, but I need just a tiny little bit of commitment from you all.
I am in debt $1000 for this laptop which I am writing you on (due to be paid after November), and several months of deferred rent (covered).
I don't care. I will carry on regardless, and with the resources I have.
I was invited to address the NAACP here yesterday, but I declined because I do not have the $50 to buy a table.
My personal debts are inconsequential, but there are a few things I would really like to do.
They include, more business cards so that as I reach out and meet folks I can give them out.
Bumper stickers so that we can get out our message. -- an exceptionally effective method I believe....
Minor fees like buying in to civic-minded groups luncheons (see NAACP above.).
Things we do NOT need funding for are -- ugly campaign signs polluting our (driving) environment -- I refuse to further pollute our environment with that madness....
I hope you all realize that I am in extreme-austerity budget mode. My minor expenses are $10 a week for roll-your-own tobacco, an occasional bottle of port, and minor food supplies. Other than that I do not spend any money.
I have calculated that in order to get a start at good bumper stickers, we need to raise about $700. that'll give a few thousand of them. this is a GREAT way of promoting this campaign and is a HIGHLY visible technique.
Although down-loadable bumper stickers are featured on my website, I do not know that anyone yet has printed even one out and put it on his/her car or window. Perhaps this method will not work. I've tried to make it grass-roots capable, but don't know where the grass roots is. Has anyone downloaded and printed one out???

And, in view of my latest post to you all regarding my endorsement of 'limited' nuclear power plants built at the Nevada Test Site -- in conjunction with an equal amount of funds put into developing alternative energy (solar, wind, et. al.), I fear that I may have lost you all as supporters of my campaign.

Well, kids, this is the moment of truth. Will you help fund this eccentric-green campaign?

I have been invited to speak at the AIA conference next month here (thanks to David), am considering addressing the US Nuclear folks here in Reno next week, and am due to interview on public radio soon here for KUNR. These things I can and will do without funds. Gladly.
However, there will be things coming up which I will need funds for.

I can ONLY go as far as I am supported by you all. I will use your generous input wisely, efficiently, and frugally.
However, I can not do anything without at least SOME input.

Is time of great import? Not right now. We WILL be on the general election ballot in November regardless of the Primaries. I am certainly willing to play 'rope-a-dope" until then, but eventually I will need some financial support of some kind to do good works.

I have never been a fund-raiser, and am adverse to asking people for money, but I feel that this may be a valuable and potentially important cause. My nature is such that if I can not earn the money for something myself then I do not deserve it, but tell me please, how serious are you all about my campaign?

$700 will give us a shitload of bumper stickers, and I think it is a true legitimate means of getting out the word. A sly, subtle, semi-underground and efficient-in-your-face method....

$100 will give us 1/7 of a shitload of stickers.

7 people giving $100 will accomplish that.

My friends, I just don't know what to do. Should I go back to work? Should I forget about this campaign?
I don't want to. I feel I'm doing the right thing.
I want to keep trying.
But I have ZERO resources. Zero, nada, nicht, none. and none are coming in....
the mailbox is consistently empty, other than ads to buy political signage....

Frankly, I'm a little discouraged.

But I will carry on.
Regardless.

Yours in peace,

Craig
